Last night I was invited to a screening of a very cute and adorable film, We Are the Best! directed by Swedish director Lukas Moodysson. It’s an appealing and funny tale about three 12 and 13 year olds trying to form a punk band set in 1982 in Stockholm. The problem is they have no training, little talent, and very little support, but that doesn't slow them down one bit. It’s refreshing, different, very enjoyable and uplifting. We Are the Best! is Moodysson’s adaptation of his wife Coco’s graphic novel. A very fetching film. It opens in LA and New York on May 30th, followed by a nationwide release. In Swedish with English subtitles, from Magnolia Pictures.
