Last night I was thrilled to attend the opening night ceremonies of Dances with Films, an outstanding film festival that focuses on "undiscovered, incredible talent" -- films by folks who truly love them. This spirited festival has dozens of features and shorts, panel discussions, parties and events all celebrating our mutual love of the medium. It just opened last night and tickets are still available. Visit danceswithfilms.com for more information.
It is an exceptionally well-organized festival, full of friendly, talented folks who just love movies as much as I do. The Opening Night film, A Winter Rose, was perfect for the occasion, an excellent story with outstanding acting on all sides. Of particular note is the star, Kimberly Whalen, a newcomer with bucket loads of talent. She can sing beautifully and act as well, and is absolutely gorgeous, so keep an eye out for more from this talented young lady!
Best wishes to all the filmmakers, actors, staff and volunteers involved with the festival, and stay tuned here for more coverage. It runs from May 29th through June 8th at the Chinese Theaters in Hollywood. For more photos visit my Flickr page: flickr.com/joybennett.
