Recently I had a delightful evening attending a party and live, in-studio performance of songs from bassist Nathan East’s forthcoming debut solo album, “Nathan East” from Yamaha Entertainment Group. We were treated to a wonderful mini-concert, complete with an open bar, delicious treats, and friendly folks all admiring this exciting new project. Nathan plays bass on many famous songs you’ve heard through the years, including the 2014 Grammy’s Record of the Year “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk. He is undoubtedly one of the top bassists in music today. He also has played bass for Eric Clapton, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Barbra Streisand, to name just a few. His sound is rich, mellow, soulful, and addicting, and we were all very happy to listen and see this talented fellow celebrate his latest project.
The party was at the famous Ocean Way Hollywood Studios, which had scores of gold records and photos of famous musicians lining the walls. The history in this studio is amazing, going all the way back to Frank Sinatra and other greats who recorded their iconic songs here.
From the smiling and mellow demeanor East displays on stage, this is his passion. It’s apparent he loves making this music as much as we love listening to it. I listened to the whole album last night, and it is lovely. Relaxing, impeccably performed and recorded, just a delicious sound.
On the way out from the party, we were given gift bags, which contained the new album. Too late! I had already personally pre-ordered it. My best wishes to Mr. East and his talented comrades on the new album. And thanks for the many years of beautiful music he and his fellow artists have given us.
