Last night I caught The Regrettes (pictured above) at The Echo club in Echo Park, a cool spot to hear up and coming bands. They are good! Three women musicians backed by an excellent drummer. Their blend of punk and Go-Go's sound is very appealing. They were preceded by French Vanilla, another emerging band whose lead singer, Sally Spitz, is the picture of energy as she bounces around non-stop to her music. Then the Tacocats played, another up-and-coming band with an excellent sound.
Echo Park is a cool area to hang out in, with friendly people, lots of comfortable restaurants, and fun places to visit, with a mellow vibe reminiscent of Venice without the sand. That's what I love about LA, so many dozens of new and different neighborhoods to visit besides your own.
